Garden Landscape

Visualizing and planning your new garden landscape is sure to be one of the most pleasurable home landscaping projects. Your creative journey begins with some creative landscaping ideas and that selection is sure to be vast. Nevertheless, yours is a fun filled quest to see and learn more about the possibilities for your home garden landscape. You might draw inspiration for your garden landscape from neighbor's yards, public parks, botanical gardens and pictures in magazines. Whether your home landscape is in Boston, New York, Charlotte, Seattle, Denver, Phoenix, Miami or Los Angeles, there is a vast selection of garden design ideas, plants and arrangements you might include in your garden landscape.

The first task in creating a new flower garden or water garden is configuring the layout within your property. Where will the garden be and what type of plants would you like to include? The type of plants you can safely grow depends on the climate in your region as well as the soil and layout of your lot. If there are trees on the property, your garden might be situated near to the trees for proper shade. If there are no trees, you may want to plant a few. Tree transplantation is very common now and homeowners should use the tree plantation services. It will save years off of waiting for the tree to reach maturity thus giving you shade and the pleasure of hearing rustling leaves in the wind.

Your landscape designer will likely place plants and flowers in clumps so they are clearly visible from a distance and create a more striking view. Plants of different colors and height and width will be strategically placed to provide cover and shade for the flowers. A flower bed is an area within a garden landscape where flowers or plants of a certain type are contained. It may contain unique soils that are favorable for those types of plants. One great hardscaping feature for flower gardens is elevated flower beds. These can be bordered by low brick borders or walls. Discuss the vertical element with your garden landscape designer since it allows more of your plants to be visible and makes your garden look more impressive.

Flowers to Include in Your Garden

Perennial flowers you can plant include hollyhock, larkspur, phlox, daisies, roses, geraniums, daffodils, chrysanthemums, goldenrod, lilies and begonias. A nice mix of plants that flower at varying times of the year gives you something to enjoy for a good part of the spring, summer and fall seasons. Fragrant plants should be used as well. A flower garden is a complete sensory experience. Rosemary, carnations, geraniums, lavender, alyssum, and more give off a great scent. Visit your local garden or landscaping center to find flowers and plants that have the right scent for you.

Rock Gardens

A rock garden has its place in a modern landscape design. Rocks have a beauty that can bring harmony and character to your landscape. Whether they're laid on the ground or piled to create a wall or other vertical feature, they make your landscape more interesting. It is considered prestigious to have boulders and unique rocks on a property. A rock garden takes that a step further with a deliberate arrangement of rocks. Although rock gardens are often used to cover unsightly areas of a yard or on slopes, they can be used anywhere including within a flower garden. An impressive rock garden idea is to have plants and flowers growing within a section of your rock garden. Use a rock garden next to your home as a way to help with rainwater runoff and as a contrast to the walls of your home. Rock gardens next to your patio landscaping to provide protection from open areas and create a more interesting view for visitors. Make sure you include rock gardens into your landscape design.
